VINTAGE VIEW CAMERA PORTRAIT SESSIONS
A view camera is a style of camera that dates back to the 1850’s and most commonly shoots on 4″x5″ film slides.
My camera specifically is a 1972 Burke & James medium format view camera.
I have always had a connection to the old.
I have always been drawn to vintage photographs.
I want my work, even digital, to mimic the classic & timeless style of film.
Through this camera I am revisiting my beginnings as a photographer in the darkroom: I’m proud to say that I learned on film and the antiquated methods of capturing light.
This camera is an ode to a deliberate way of life, slowing down.
An instrument that perhaps has been waiting for me and asking me to create more intentionally.
Procedures can't be rushed with a View Camera.
I’d love to have you in front of my camera to create your timeless masterpiece that will only become more valuable as time goes by.

THE EXPERIENCE
I will work with you to hear about the idea you have in mind for your portrait.
Let’s showcase your personality.
Let’s create a timeless image of your family.
Let’s capture you together with someone near to your heart.
A pet. A loved one. Your favorite person.
I will come to your home or we will meet at a location in nature, place you in front of these majestic Montana mountains and compose a scene.
THE PROCESS
The entire experience will be an hour or less. We will expose two film slides.
After the session, I will immediately drop your film in the mail to be sent to my partner lab.
It will take about a week to develop and your film scan will arrive in digital form in my inbox.
About 2 weeks later, I will receive the film negative in the mail which I can then use to make a heirloom print size of your choice.
